Sela Companion
Ask for help managing your workspace, find settings, review supported changes, and give employees a companion allowance within their existing permissions.

Sela Companion helps you manage the workspace currently selected in the dashboard. Ask a question, find the right page, or prepare a supported change for review. It is available in active workspaces with AI access when your workspace administrator enables it.
The companion is separate from the assistant that answers your customers and the reply suggestions in your inbox. Changing your customer assistant's name does not rename the companion.
Open the companion#
Press the small companion button on the dashboard edge. You can also choose Open Sela Companion in quick navigation. The panel stays available as you move between dashboard pages. Minimize companion closes the panel without deleting the chat. Open Chat history to return to a previous conversation.
The header shows the workspace you are working in. Switching workspace starts a separate context. Chats belong to the person who started them within that workspace.
Archive chat ends a conversation and cancels unfinished requests. Archived chats remain readable in history; start a new chat to continue. Delete chat asks for confirmation, removes it from history immediately, and cancels unfinished requests. Cleanup of its messages and temporary drafts follows. Approved changes, saved knowledge sources, receipts, audit records, and aggregate usage remain.
Workspace exports omit private companion chats, draft proposals, navigation records, and personal preferences. Saved business settings and approved change receipts remain workspace records. Offboarding makes new companion requests unavailable immediately and cancels unfinished work. Tenant deletion removes the companion's stored chat history under the workspace retention process.
Useful requests include:
- "Show me business hours."
- "Prioritize my day using the current tasks and inbox."
- "Change Sunday to Thursday to 10:00 to 22:00. Keep the other days."
- "The Mansour branch is temporarily closed."
- "Help me add a new dish."
- "Explain this assistant setting."
- "Pause delivery until I resume it."
The companion reads the saved information available through your existing permissions. It may ask for missing facts or an exact branch or assistant profile. Review those names before continuing. If operational locations share a name, provide the exact location record ID in your request or use the Branches page to make the change yourself. A duplicate name cannot authorize a location change proposal.
Review a change#
For a supported change, the companion shows a review card with the target, current values, proposed values, effect, and review expiry. No conversational request alone applies a change.
- Read the entire card, including the timezone for hours and any operational effect.
- Choose Revise to describe a correction, or Cancel to reject it.
- Choose Apply changes to approve the exact card.
- Wait for the saved-change receipt. View setting opens the ordinary dashboard editor so you can check the result.
Supported reviewed changes include workspace business hours, timezone, independent delivery availability, an existing operational branch's status, an existing customer assistant's identity or instructions, customer access to an existing tool, and publication or withdrawal of a ready knowledge source. A branch status change applies to the operational location inside the current workspace. It does not archive a workspace or switch to another city workspace.
The review can expire or conflict with a more recent edit. When that happens, ask for a fresh proposal. The companion checks your current access again when you apply it.
Undo and unsaved edits#
When a saved change supports undo, choose Review undo on its receipt. This prepares a second review card in the chat. Review and approve that card to apply the undo. Undo can become unavailable if the setting changes again or its review period ends.
Save or discard local page edits before applying a companion change. Navigation asks before leaving a supported editor with unsaved changes. If business hours, delivery availability, business setup, or an assistant profile changes elsewhere while you are editing, Sela keeps your draft and asks you to reload the saved version before saving.
Stop request cancels the current companion run. It does not undo a change you already approved. Use the receipt's undo action for that.
Tasks that need your interaction#
The companion offers an Open button and explains the next steps when an action needs direct input. Click Open to reach the native editor; the dashboard checks permissions and confirms arrival before highlighting a supported control. Adding a dish, choosing an image, connecting a channel, changing roles, managing billing, or creating credentials uses the appropriate dashboard flow. You complete that flow yourself.
Navigation uses available dashboard destinations. If a requested section is unavailable, the companion offers a page-level fallback. It cannot use arbitrary browser controls or make external account changes through chat.
See Catalog and products, Knowledge base, Assistant identity and scope, and Team, roles and permissions for those workflows.
Add business knowledge#
Open Business knowledge in the panel. Paste confirmed business information with a source title, then choose Save source draft. Review the source text before choosing Process source. Processing can continue while you use the dashboard.
A ready source still needs a separate publication review. Review publication creates a card in the chat. Apply changes makes the approved source available to the customer assistant across this workspace. Review withdrawal prepares a review to remove that availability. This does not publish a public help centre article.
Test question evidence shows matching excerpts from the selected source, including a draft. It does not produce a complete customer assistant answer or send any message to a customer. A source that contains no matching evidence should be corrected before publication.
Use the ordinary Knowledge base page for file uploads and other source workflows.
Rehearse a customer answer#
Ask the companion to preview a customer answer for a specific saved assistant profile and a sample question. It uses the profile, published workspace evidence, and an identity change being reviewed when one is selected. This rehearsal consumes AI usage and returns illustrative text in your private companion chat. It does not send a customer message, publish a source, apply the proposed profile change, or place an order. Verify the real customer workflow separately before relying on a behavior change.
Control delivery availability#
For a restaurant or store, open Settings → Business setup → Delivery availability. Pause delivery, accept delivery at all times, use the saved business hours, or define a separate weekly delivery schedule and timezone. Save the policy to activate it. You can also ask the companion to prepare the policy for your approval.
A saved delivery pause or closed delivery schedule blocks new delivery quotes and order creation. Pickup remains available under its own rules, and existing orders continue. Delivery fees and areas are configured separately in Delivery settings.
Workspaces without a saved delivery policy keep their previous delivery behavior. Restore previous delivery behavior removes the separate policy after confirmation. If you choose business hours, save valid business hours and a timezone first. Separate delivery hours can cross midnight; equal start and end times mean 24 hours.
Employee access and allowances#
Open Companion settings. A person with settings management permission can enable or disable the companion, allow employee access, and set the workspace's monthly request limit. With team read access, that settings manager can also enable access for individual employees and set their monthly request allowance.
Employee access keeps each person's existing role. It does not give an employee permission to change settings or see private information outside that role. The panel shows how many companion requests remain. Chat and answer previews use that companion allowance and require an active AI Assist plan. Knowledge processing follows the normal storage and AI usage rules.
Only one request per person and three requests per workspace can run at the same time. If another chat is still working, finish or stop its request before starting another. A blocked request does not use your allowance.
Under Your preferences, you can hide the launcher or turn off starter suggestions. Quick navigation still opens the companion when its launcher is hidden.
If a request cannot finish#
The companion shows an error if access changes, an allowance is used, or a reply cannot finish. The rest of the dashboard remains usable. Check the workspace, remaining allowance, and your permissions, then send a new message. A success statement in chat is not a saved-change receipt. Check the receipt and ordinary setting before relying on a change.
