Give customers your own stamp card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, stamp it from orders and the counter, and bring members back with rewards, birthday gifts and WhatsApp offers.

A rewards card is your restaurant's own stamp card. Customers join from your storefront, add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and collect a stamp every time they order or visit. A full card earns the reward you choose, such as a free meal. There is no app to install.
Open it from Store → Loyalty. The card needs a live storefront, because customers join from its rewards page, and the loyalty wallet cards add-on on your plan: $15 a month, unlimited members (see Plans and billing). You can design the card before adding it.
Create and launch the card#
- Open Store → Loyalty and choose Create card. Pick how many stamps earn a reward (3 to 20), name the reward in English and Arabic, and choose the card colours.
- In Card & rules, finish the design and the rules. The preview on the right shows the card the way phones show it.
- Choose Launch card. Until you launch, the card is a draft and customers cannot join. If your plan doesn't include the add-on yet, the page shows Add loyalty wallet cards to your plan: choose Add to my plan to pay for the rest of your current term, or pick a bundle with loyalty cards in billing.
You can pause the card at any time. While it is paused, nobody can join and no stamps are added from orders or the counter. Members keep their cards, stamps and rewards, and everything continues when you resume. The same applies if the add-on ends: cards stay in customers' wallets and rewards can still be redeemed, but joining and new stamps wait until the add-on is back.
Card & rules#
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name and reward (English and Arabic) | Shown on the card and the join page, in the customer's language. |
| Stamps for a reward | 3 to 20. Extra stamps carry over: a 12th stamp on a 10-stamp card gives one reward and leaves 2 stamps. |
| Card colours, stamp icon and logo | Background, text and accent colours, a check, star or heart stamp, and your logo. Any image is converted to a PNG before upload. |
| Stamps from orders | Every completed order earns one stamp, from the storefront, WhatsApp and other chats, or the Order desk. You can set a minimum order amount. |
| Stamps at the counter | Staff add stamps by scanning the card. You set the most stamps one visit can add. |
| Welcome stamps | Up to 3 free stamps when a customer joins. |
| Reward valid for | Days before an unused reward expires. 0 keeps rewards until they are used. |
| Birthday gift | A reward on the customer's birthday, with its own name and validity. |
| Terms | Shown on the join page and the back of the card. |
| Branch locations | Up to 10 map pins. Paste the link from Google Maps' Share button (Sela finds the exact pin), any Google Maps place link, or coordinates such as 33.3128, 44.3615. Phones can suggest the card on the lock screen near a branch (see Notifications and nearby suggestions). |
Changes to the card's name, reward, colours, logo, stamps, terms or branch locations update every member's card in their wallet automatically. If you lower Stamps for a reward, cards that already hold more stamps than the new number turn the extra into rewards straight away (for example, 7 stamps on a card that now needs 5 become one reward and 2 stamps).
What counts as a purchase#
- Orders: an order earns one stamp when it is marked Completed, whatever channel it came from. Orders that are cancelled or rejected never earn a stamp. With a minimum order amount set, smaller orders do not count. A stamp goes to the card of the customer on the order. If that customer record is a different one from the card's (for example, a WhatsApp chat and a storefront visit that were never linked), the card with the same phone number gets the stamp.
- Counter: staff add stamps for a visit, up to the most you allow per visit.
- Refunds: if you refund an order after it earned a stamp, take the stamp back from the member's history (see Refunds and corrections).
Stamps keep collecting while a reward is waiting to be used, and a member can hold more than one reward at a time.
How customers join#
Customers open your rewards page at usesela.com/s/<your-handle>/rewards, from the QR poster, your storefront or a link you send them.
- They confirm their phone number with a code sent on WhatsApp. Customers who already confirmed it at checkout skip this step.
- They enter their name and, if they like, the day and month of their birthday. The year is not asked.
- They can tick Send me news and offers from your store on WhatsApp. The box starts unticked, and the card works the same either way. A customer who opted out before stays opted out until they turn offers back on from their card page.
- They add the card to their phone's wallet with the official button: an iPhone shows only Add to Apple Wallet, an Android phone only Add to Google Wallet. A computer or a device the page can't recognize shows both, plus a QR code to open the page on the phone.
Customers can also get the card from the store chat's welcome step, where they give their name and birthday before chatting and can tick the same WhatsApp offers box; the join page then reuses those answers.
Orders they completed in the last 60 days, after your card launched, are counted when they join (up to 5). The join page tells them how many stamps are waiting.
One phone number is one member of your card. The same customer joining another restaurant's card on Sela gets a separate card; restaurants never see each other's members, stamps or history.
A customer who changes phones or deletes the card opens your rewards page on any phone, confirms their number again, and gets the same card back with its stamps and rewards.
Stamping at the counter#
Use Store → Loyalty → Counter on any phone or computer.
- Choose Scan card and point the camera at the QR code on the customer's card. You can also type the member code under the QR, or find the member by phone number.
- Check the name and the last 4 digits of the phone number.
- Add the stamps, or redeem a reward the customer has.
Each tap is recorded once: retrying after a network error never adds a second stamp, and a reward can only be redeemed once. The counter warns you when the same card was stamped in the last 10 minutes. Scanning a card only identifies the member; it never adds a stamp or redeems a reward by itself. A customer who scans their own card with a phone camera just lands on your rewards page.
For customers who are not members yet, Show join QR shows a large QR code they can scan to join.
Cashier logins#
A cashier login is a phone screen that only scans rewards cards and adds stamps. Cashiers are not workspace members and don't use a seat: they can't see orders, chats, members, settings or anything else. Like drivers, they are invited with a link.
To add a cashier, a manager opens Store → Loyalty → Cashiers:
- Choose Add cashier, then enter their name and WhatsApp number.
- The link opens right away. Choose WhatsApp to send it to the cashier, or Copy link or Share. It works once and expires after 24 hours. Choose Send link later for a new one.
- The cashier opens the link on their phone and chooses Sign in. A new cashier creates their account from the same screen: Google creates it straight away, and email or phone use Sign up at the bottom. The scanner then opens at
usesela.com/cashier/appand links the account.
If the cashier signs in with an account the link didn't reach (for example a different Google account), the scanner says the account isn't a cashier yet and offers Use another account. If a sign-in ends on the page that lists workspaces, Sela sends the cashier on to the scanner when that account has no workspace.
Install the scanner#
Once the account is linked, the scanner offers to install itself on the phone's home screen; the cashier can hide the offer, and the download button in the scanner's header stays. On Android, Install opens the browser's install prompt, or the steps when Chrome doesn't offer one. On iPhone, open the page in Safari and choose Share → Add to Home Screen, then open the new icon and sign in with the same account. Links opened inside a messaging app may need to be opened in the phone's browser first. The installed app opens straight to the scanner and shows an offline page when there is no connection; it stores no card or customer data on the phone.
On the scanner, the cashier:
- Chooses Scan card and points the camera at the customer's card. If the camera doesn't work, Type the code instead finds the card by its member code.
- Checks the name and the last 4 digits of the phone number.
- Chooses how many stamps (up to the most you allow per visit) and Add, then Scan next customer.
Each press adds stamps once, even after a network retry, and the scanner warns when the same card was stamped in the last 10 minutes. Stamps show in each member's history under the cashier's name. Cashiers can't redeem rewards: when a card has a reward ready, the scanner says so and a manager hands it over from the Counter. While the card is paused, or counter stamps are off, the scanner finds cards but adds no stamps.
In the cashier's menu (⋯), Move to a new phone sends a link that moves the login to another account (the old one loses access when it's used), Turn off ends their access straight away, and Remove deletes the login. Stamps they added stay. A workspace can have up to 50 cashiers. Managing cashiers needs permission to change settings. Cashier logins are included with the loyalty add-on at no extra cost.
Rewards, birthdays and expiry#
- A full card turns into a reward automatically, and the customer's card shows it.
- Rewards are used at the counter: open the member and choose Redeem next to the reward.
- On a member's birthday, the gift you set is added to their card in the morning (your workspace time). A gift is given once a year.
- Unused rewards expire after the number of days you set.
- Managers can open a member in Members to add or remove stamps with a note, or gift a reward.
While the card is paused, rewards members already have can still be redeemed at the counter.
Refunds and corrections#
Open the member in Members. In History, an order's stamp has a Take back button. Use it when you refund that order. It works once per order:
- If the card has stamps, one stamp is removed.
- If the card has no stamps because that order completed a reward that is still unused, the reward is cancelled and the card's other stamps come back: the number the card had before that order, even if you changed Stamps for a reward since. If those stamps now fill a card, they turn into a reward straight away, as the next stamp would. For an older reward whose stamps the history cannot show, Take back asks you to adjust the card by hand instead.
- If that reward was already used, nothing is taken back and the refund is noted in the history.
In the same panel, under Number, duplicates and removal:
- Change phone number moves the card to the customer's new number. They confirm the new number on your rewards page to see the card again. The card already in their wallet keeps working. A number that already has a card can't be used; merge the two cards instead.
- Merge a duplicate card moves another card's stamps and all of its unused rewards onto this one (type the other card's member code). The other card stops working. A card holding more than 500 unused rewards can't be merged; contact support.
- Remove card closes the card: it shows as no longer valid in the customer's wallet and unused rewards are cancelled. Its history stays, and the number can join again later.
Notifications and nearby suggestions#
The card in the customer's wallet updates itself when stamps or rewards change. Phones can show a notification for:
- a new stamp and the new total,
- a reward unlocked, redeemed or given as a birthday gift,
- a Card announcement.
A Card announcement is a short message (up to 160 characters) shown on every member's card. You can send one a week, from Overview. Use it for news about the card, such as double stamps this weekend.
WhatsApp offers#
To send an offer to members, go to Members → WhatsApp offers and choose Create audience for one of these groups:
- All opted-in members
- Reward waiting: members with a reward they have not used yet
- Birthdays this month
- Not seen for 30 days
Each audience includes only members who ticked the WhatsApp offers box (when joining, in the chat welcome, or later on their card page) and have not turned it off. Send it from WhatsApp Marketing with an approved template; customers who opted out are skipped when you send.
Where else the card appears#
- Storefront: while the card is live, a strip in your card colours under the store header invites customers to join, My orders links to the card, and the order-placed screen tells members the order will earn a stamp (or tells others that joining counts it, when every completed order earns a stamp). A member's own rewards page shows their card, rewards ready to use, recent activity, and lets them turn WhatsApp offers on or off and add a birthday once.
- AI assistant: when a customer asks about stamps or rewards in chat, the assistant reads their card and answers with their real balance, or invites them to join. It cannot add stamps or redeem rewards.
- Contacts: a customer's record shows their stamps, rewards and whether the card is in their wallet.
- Share: the join link, a QR download, a WhatsApp share button and a printable A5 counter poster.

Troubleshooting#
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Customers can't open the rewards page | Check that your storefront is live, the card is launched, and your plan includes loyalty wallet cards. |
| Launch card is greyed out | Add loyalty wallet cards to your plan from the panel above it or from billing. |
| The Apple button downloads a file instead of adding the card | Open the rewards page in Safari on the iPhone and tap the button there. |
| The Google button shows a blank page | Refresh Google's page once, or open Google Wallet and look for your card. |
| The card in the wallet shows an old balance | Updates can take a few minutes. Ask the customer to keep Automatic Updates on for the card (Apple) and to open the wallet app. |
| A scanned QR says it is not one of your cards | The customer is showing another business's card, or an old screenshot. Find them by phone number instead. |
| A stamp was added by mistake | A manager can remove it in Members with a note. |
| An order was refunded | Use Take back on that order's stamp in the member's history. |
| A customer has a new phone number | A manager uses Change phone number on the member. The customer confirms the new number on the rewards page. |
| A customer lost their phone or deleted the card | They open your rewards page on the new phone and confirm their number. The same card comes back. |
| One customer has two cards | Open the card to keep and use Merge a duplicate card with the other card's code. |
